Leave of absence
A leave of absence is a period an employee spends away from their normal work schedule. Taking this type of leave doesn’t jeopardize the individual’s standing, as the employer has approved it. Examples of mandatory leaves of absence include:
- Medical conditions
- Jury duty
- Military leave
A voluntary leave of absence may be taken for other purposes.
